The Thirty third (33rd) meeting of the UNECE/FAO Team of Specialists on Monitoring Sustainable Forest Management will be held on 17-19 April 2024 at Larnaca, Cyprus.
The Team of Specialists on Monitoring Sustainable Forest Management was created to support the implementation of the Warsaw Integrated Programme of Work, approved by the ECE Committee on Forests and the Forest Industry and FAO European Forestry Commission during the Joint Session held in Warsaw, Poland in October 2017.
The main objectives of the team are:
1. Strengthen the work on: (i) forest reporting, (ii) assessing the state of forests and sustainability of forest management and (iii) monitoring the role of the forest sector in a green economy in the region;
2. Advise the ECE/FAO Forestry and Timber Section on the implementation of activities in Work Area 1 “Data, monitoring, reporting and assessment”, with regard to the collection, harmonization, review, analysis and dissemination of quantitative and qualitative information on forests and sustainable forest management in the region.
