(1) Underlying Mechanisms of Urban Green Areas’ Influence on Residents’ Health—A Case Study from Belgrade, Serbia

The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between the size and quality of different urban green areas to residents’ health based on the face-to-face survey and remote sensing data at 12 locations in Belgrade, Serbia. Results suggest that the quality of green infrastructure is more important than the amount in promoting residents’ health. Relating the characteristics of green areas to visitors proved to improve the correlation between residents’ health and the quality of green areas.

(2) Institutional structures impeding forest-based social innovation in Serbia and Slovenia

This paper analyses institutional structures for forest-based social innovation (SI) in Serbia and Slovenia. Voids related to institutional as well as actor-oriented factors in both countries are identified. Results show that most of the relevant actors in both countries struggle with the notion of SI and find it of low relevance to forestry. The recommendations made in the research relate to the need for centralised coordination and networks creation.
